Colorado College’s Bluegrass Ensemble, always a hit at Black Rose, is back in its 2019-20 version, featuring CC students Hub Hejna on guitar; Charles Hall on banjo; Camille Newsome on fiddle; Helen Lenski on banjo; Ada Bowles on mandolin; and Ethan Hall on bass. They performed last fall at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Wide Open Bluegrass Festival.

The ensemble is under the direction of pro musician and instructor Keith Reed, who teaches bluegrass guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Students audition for a spot in the ensemble, and then mine mostly traditional bluegrass sources for creative inspiration and to develop their repertoire and arrangements. The group regularly performs at the Durango Bluegrass Meltdown fest, at CC, and at venues in the Pikes Peak region.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m.; concert starts at 7 p.m.

Opening acts are teen singer-songwriter-guitarist Emelise Munoz (winner of the 2017 Stars of Tomorrow Competition in New York City), and Colorado Springs-based singer-songwriter-guitarist Matthew Davis.
